What we do
Graduate mentoring
TSCF's Catalyst wants to establish a graduate mentoring network. We want to identify graduates who embrace our vision, embody our values and endorse our doctrine. We want to identify graduates who have the capacity to mentor new graduates within their own industry or discipline. We want to be facilitating these mentors by staff interaction and web based resourcing. We hope to begin our first 8 week mentoring partnership in Wellington amongst graduate lawyers later in the year.
Catalyst groups
TSCF's graduates and faculty ministry wants to inspire the creation of Catalyst groups throughout the New Zealand marketplace and academy. Catalyst groups will be groups that come together in their spheres of influence to fulfil our vision, in a way that is consistent with our values and celebrates our doctrine.
We realise there is a massive amount of fluidity in this approach.
We are convinced that the top down structures and strategies of the last generation will need to allow space for the bottom up relational networks of this generation. The new networks, if they are to thrive in a time pressured and fast-moving society, will need to be flexible, fluid and friendship-based, animated more by shared values and vision than cumbersome structures and strategy.
Catalyst groups will span the spectrum of gospel engagement from passively constructive groups to more proactive change-making groups. At the heart of each Catalyst group will be groups of friends who follow Jesus in their spheres of influence, sharing our vision, values and doctrinal commitments.
With this in mind, Catalyst groups could be regular prayer groups at Price Waterhouse Coopers or they could be groups of senior staff seeking to expose the exploitation of workers within their industry. They could be citywide groups of Christian architects meeting regularly to reflect theologically on architecture, contemplating its impact on issues of justice, holiness and evangelism. They could be regional networks of Christian physicists or a regular breakfast gathering of CEOs seeking to express the gospel in the marketplace.
Catalyst groups in the academy could be groups of friends exploring the influence their Christian convictions make to the content and delivery of their subjects.
A Catalyst group could be a church-based small group for employers who explore the relationship of the gospel to employing and evangelising staff.
Catalyst groups could be groups from within industries seeking to influence government in relation to “whistle blowing” laws. They could be groups who work in their business to bring about just terms of trade with partners in the developing world.
