2. Growing our witness in the workplace: Ben Carswell has worked in marketing in London and is now the national outreach co-ordinator for TSCF. Read more.

Ben Carswell is the National Outreach Coordinator for TSCF. He is passionate about seeing people live and speak the gospel wherever God places them. In a former life, he worked in a variety of jobs – including in marketing and for the UK government. Married to Jen, they have a one year old son, Samuel, and their home is in Lower Hutt. Ben loves most sports, travel, gourmet coffee and good books and is happy when all of those combine. However, he is happiest when talking with others about Jesus.

Workshop description: For most of us, work is where we spend the majority of our time. The friendships we make and the relationships we forge are a significant part of who we are. If we are to see NZ reached with the gospel, much of the credible witness is going to be lived out and articulated in the workplace. In this workshop, we will be challenged, encouraged and equipped to live and speak the gospel in our workplaces.

3. Telling the Story in our own words and worlds. Roshan Allpress leads the Compass Foundation in New Zealand. Read more.

C.S. Lewis once wrote, "You must translate every bit of your Theology into the vernacular. This is very troublesome... but it is essential. It is also the greatest service to your own thought. I have come to the conviction that if you cannot translate your thoughts into uneducated language, then your thoughts were confused. Power to translate is the test of having really understood one’s own meaning."

We claim to be a community shaped by the most extraordinary story, and to live lives shaped by what God has revealed in Jesus. Yet, we rarely practice telling the story well. This workshop is about that - creative ways to express the narrative of the Bible.

After studying history at Canterbury University, Roshan Allpress began work with Maxim Institute in Auckland, getting involved with the first Compass conference in January 2004. After leaving Maxim, Roshan now manages the Compass Foundation. He lives in Christchurch with his wife Lottie.
